How to get to Tiskita



The adventure begins as soon as you book your stay at Tiskita. Due to our remote location in the southern zone of Costa Rica, we have laid out a myriad of options to help guide you to your destination. Contact our travel concierge to begin working on the details ASAP.

Tiskita is located at the end of the road in the remote  southwest of Costa Rica, near Panama. Tiskita faces Golfo Dulce and the Osa Peninsula, home to Corcovado National Park.

The most convenient way to get to Tiskita is to fly directly in using our private airfield. Driving or taking the public bus are more adventurous ways to get here as well and are a great way to experience more of Costa Rica.

 

Logistics

By Air

The most popular way to get here is to fly directly into Tiskita's private airfield. There are also more adventurous regional flights from which you'll take a boat or a taxi to reach your destination.

Regional or Charter

The quickest and easiest way is to book a direct charter from San José into our private airfield at Tiskita. Otherwise, for a bit more adventure, guests can choose to book a regional flight into Golfito or Puerto Jiménez and take a taxi or boat from the airport to Tiskita.

The drive from San José to Tiskita takes approximately eight hours and is a great way to see the country.

Take the Scenic Route

Of course there are a cornucopia of stops and points of interest along the way so plan on adding lots more time onto the initial 8 hour trip. Be sure to ask Luis about some highlights and don’t miss attractions as you make your way to Tiskita.

The public transit system in Costa Rica is wonderful, dependable and very inexpensive.

Only about $20

You can catch a bus just about anywhere and it’ll take you where you need to go! A one-way ticket is only about $20 USD.

Fly Into Golfito regional Airport Fly San José -> Golfito
Taxi Golfito -> Tiskita

Enjoy a regional flight from San José to Golfito which takes approximately 50 minutes. From Golfito, a scenic taxi ride will take about 2 hours to deliver you at Tiskita. Note that latest regional flights operated by Sansa Airlines leave at 4pm and that local taxis carry 4 people maximum.

Fly into Puerto Jiménez Regional Airport Fly San José -> Puerto Jiménez
Boat across Golfo Dulce -> Tiskita

An alternative with a bit more adventure than option 1 since it includes a boat ride. Enjoy a quick regional flight from San José to Puerto Jiménez on the Osa Peninsula which takes approximately 50 minutes. Then from Puerto Jiménez, you’ll embark on a scenic boat trip across Golfo Dulce directly to Tiskita which takes approximately 45 minutes. This is a great option if you’re able to leave SJO early morning. This plan is a little be faster that option 1 and includes the chance to spot some whales and/or dolphins which the Golfo Dulce is well known for. Note that the boat can fit a maximum of 6 people.

Fly directly to Tiskita on a private charter Fly San José International or Pavas Regional -> Tiskita’s Private Airfield

Booking a charter flight from San José to Tiskita’s private runway is by far the fastest and most direct mode of transportation to our Lodge. Clocking in at about an hour and 15 minutes, you’re guaranteed to see some of the most beautiful land and seascapes that Costa Rica has to offer. Chartering direct flights requires the use of smaller, 4 seater planes therefore we’re limited to 4 passengers per plane. Luis can arrange flights for you anytime between 6 AM and 2:30 PM. 

Our trusted vendor can pick you up at Juan Santamaría International Airport or the Pavas Airport, they can take off directly from there.

The flight offers aerial views of Costa Rica’s central valley and its mountain range, the Pacific coastline, the Osa Peninsula, Golfo Dulce, and of course Tiskita. Guests have also spotted whales and dolphins while flying over Golfo Dulce as well!

Of course we can assist our guests with car rentals and provide driving directions. We also recommend getting a GPS from the car rental agency if they have one available.

Note that once you’re at Tiskita, there’s a chance that you won’t need or use your expensive rental car that much. Tiskita provides shuttles to most of the activities in the area and most guests decide that they’d rather just relax in their hammocks, enjoying the birds and the breeze. This is one reason we at Tiskita recommend one of the flight options instead as they ultimately end up being less expensive and a much quicker way to get here.

Drive to Tiskita Ride the bus

The public transit system in Costa Rica is wonderful, dependable and very inexpensive. You can catch a bus just about anywhere and it’ll take you where you need to go! That being said, the bus ride from San José to Golfito takes approximately seven hours. There it’ll take about three more hours to go from Golfito to Tiskita so about 10 hours total. The bus driver will stop at Tiskita’s entrance gate. It’s a long ride but it’s also a great way to see the country and travel with the locals.
